Dr. Teresa Johnson

Dr. Teresa E Johnson grew up in Janesville, Minnesota. After high school she attended the College of St. Catherine at St. Paul, Minnesota and then received her DDS degree at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1986. After two years of general practice residency training, she completed Master’s Degrees in Geriatric Dentistry and Public Health from the University of Minnesota. In 1993 she embarked on a 12-year career in dental education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry at Lincoln, achieving the rank of associate professor with tenure. Looking for a career change in her home state, she returned to Southern Minnesota to join the staff of Apple Tree Dental’s Madelia clinic in 2005.

After six years serving as the dental director and oral health care manager of Apple Tree’s Madelia clinic, Dr. Teresa assumed the role of Education and Quality Assurance Director for the Apple Tree Dental organization, while continuing to provide dental services at Apple Tree’s Madelia clinic on a limited basis.  Shortly after, she transitioned to the Mounds View location. Her responsibilities include regulatory compliance oversight and monitoring.

Dr. Teresa is a Diplomat of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry, and a Fellow of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry. She is a member of several professional organizations such as the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Special Care Dentistry Association, and the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention. Committed to life-long learning, Dr. Teresa prepares, coordinates, and delivers continuing education courses for Apple Tree Dental employees and speaks nationally, regionally and locally at various dental education venues.

Dr. Teresa is the Minnesota Dental Director and the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency Associate Program Director.  Apple Tree launched its AEGD residency program in July of 2017 at the Mounds View Center.

Dr. Teresa cares for patients with special needs, the aged, those experiencing barriers to care, and those across the age spectrum who seek compassionate care provided in a conscientious and skilled manner. Her clinical interests include removable prosthodontics, endodontics and restorative dentistry. On the personal side, she is quite active in her church, is an avid Golden Gopher fan. She enjoys reading, gardening, and spending precious time with her family.
