Dr. Kathryn Ann Anderson earned her Doctor of Dental Science degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2018. Previously, she attended the University of Minnesota for Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Business. She also earned a Certificate in Hospital Dentistry from the University of Michigan Hospital. Dr. Anderson joined the Apple Tree Dental team in Mounds View in 2019.
Growing up, Dr. Anderson was the only person she knew who actually enjoyed going to the dentist. She recalls great experiences, such as getting her purple, glittery retainer, picking her favorite fluoride flavor, and chatting about school with the dentist. However, the more she progressed into her dental career, the more she realized many people do not have this positive experience — or any experience — at a dental office. As a result, Dr. Anderson has become particularly drawn to patients with barriers to care, and it is her ambition to find ways to mitigate the challenges these patients face.
The thing that Dr. Anderson loves most about her job is “marrying health with artistry, and the overall transformation process that occurs when patients achieve their oral health goals.” She has a strong interest in special care dentistry, oral surgery, and comprehensive care. As an entrepreneur, she loves thinking, creating, and innovating. Dr. Anderson is passionate about caring for patients with special needs. Additionally, she belongs to the American Dental Association, the Special Care Dentistry Association, and the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry.
Outside of work, Dr. Anderson volunteers with Special Smiles through Special Olympics Minnesota, The Landing MN, and Minnesota Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. She currently lives near Minneapolis, and has a fiance (Nic), two cats (Winnie and Peaches) and a baby (Zoa). She loves Vikings football, yoga, live music, thrift shopping, and running outdoors — but only if the weather is fair!
