Dr. Kathryn Anderson

Dr Kathryn Anderson

Dr. Kathryn Anderson earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2018.  Before dental school, she attended the University of Minnesota for Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Entrepreneurial Management.  She also earned a Certificate in Hospital Dentistry from the University of Michigan Hospital.  Dr. Anderson joined the Apple Tree Dental team at the Mounds View location upon her return from Ann Arbor in 2019.

Growing up, Dr. Anderson was the only person she knew who actually enjoyed going to the dentist.  She was there for braces and the fitting of a purple-glitter retainer, the removal of stubborn baby teeth, and multiple gum surgeries.  She loved picking out her favorite fluoride flavor and chatting about school with her dentist.  However, as she progressed into her dental career, she realized how many people do not have this experience, or never have the opportunity to.  As a result, Dr. Anderson has become particularly drawn to patients who face barriers to dental care – whether those barriers involve pre-existing conditions, education, support, or economic hardship/financial burden.  It is her passion and ambition to alleviate the challenges patients face to achieve their oral healthcare goals.

Dr. Anderson has a strong interest in special care dentistry, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.  She is certified to provide comprehensive dental care for patients under IV sedation.  Dr. Anderson also has experience treating patients with special healthcare needs under general anesthesia in the operating room.  She belongs to the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Special Care Dentistry Association, and the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry.

Outside of work, Dr. Anderson volunteers with Special Smiles through Special Olympics Minnesota.  She completed a two-year continuing education and research fellowship with Minnesota Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities.  Dr. Anderson continues to be active in dental education, and serves as adjunct faculty with Apple Tree Dental’s AEGD Postdoctoral Residency at the Mounds View Center.  Dr. Anderson resides in the southern suburbs with her growing family.  She loves Vikings football, yoga, live music, and thrift shopping!
