On March 9th, 2021, the Minnesota House of Representatives “Session Daily” page posted a story about the new HF1918 bill, sponsored by Representative Liz Reyer (DFL-Eagan).  HF1918 would “require the Department of Human Services (DHS) to establish an advisory committee to lay the groundwork for a dental home pilot project.”

As the post explains, dental homes “are not necessarily brick-and-mortar buildings,” but more of an approach to dentistry that helps make services more accessible to everyone by creating multiple points of entry, including in schools, shelters, nursing homes, group homes, and assisted living facilities.

The 15-member advisory committee that would be responsible for developing the pilot project would include representatives from the Minnesota Dental Homes Collaborative, of which Apple Tree Dental is a member.  DHS would be responsible for providing staff and administrative support.
