Advocacy And Policy

Minnesota Association of Community Dentistry
Apple Tree has, since its inception, played a leading role in the Minnesota Association for Community Dentistry (MACD). This grassroots organization connects safety net dental providers to promote oral health as an essential component of general health, with and emphasis on advocacy for the underserved. MACD has held forums on issues relating to access to care, participated in oral health screenings at the Special Olympics, and has been involved with advocacy projects including face-to-face meetings with legislators and representatives from the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

Red River Valley Dental Access Project
The Red River Valley Dental Access Project was initiated in 1997 by Apple Tree Dental and the Oral Health America Foundation and founded in 2000 with the support from Dakota Medical Foundation. The Project is an oral health coalition committed to improving access to oral health care through advocacy, education, expanding and developing the workforce, assuring services and creating unified strategies to improve access. Dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, government and public health agencies, dental educators, and other participants work together in a community partnership to improve access to dental care.
